Meet Flight of Swallows

A collaborative group of improvisational performers, Flight of Swallows came together in January 2010. The Swallows create an audio and visual experience incorporating aerial performance and a variety of musicians, including percussion and cello, as well as other instruments ranging from Theremin to saxophone, from accordion to banjo, from found objects to children’s toys.

Sadie Hawkins
Drawing inspiration from pop culture and a childhood full of music, theater, and musical theater, Sadie Hawkins is a burlesque performer and aerialist based in Atlanta, Ga. She is actively involved in lowbrow performance arts, and is co-founder of Blast-Off Burlesque, which was voted Best of Atlanta 2009 by readers of Creative Loafing. For her day job, Sadie is a freelance writer and marketing communicator; with her husband, she is a partner in Knottie Pictures. Sadie serves on the boards of directors for Eyedrum and the Avondale Cultural Affairs Foundation.

Deisha Oliver
Ms. Oliver has been a performing artist in the metro-Atlanta area for nearly 30 years as both actor and cellist. In recent years, she has founded a theatre company (Twinhead Theatre), sat on several board of directors (most notably Eyedrum Gallery) and discovered the joy of motherhood. Launching Bang! Arts Management and Promotions allows Oliver to be a very active member of the fabulous Atlanta arts community as a designer, a promoter, an arts pusher and a mom.

Mario Schambon
Mario Schambon is a Colombian-American artist, musician and composer based in Atlanta GA. He has been active in improvised music communities throughout the Southeast, including performances with Davey Williams, members of the Sam Rivers Rivbea Orchestra, and was one of the founding members of Numb Right Thumb. He currently plays with The Selmenaires and Adron.

COLLABORATORS

Scott Burland
Scott Burland has lived in Atlanta for almost twenty years, and has been involved in various local musical projects and art communities almost as long. He's contributed to video, music and performance art projects at 800 EAST, The Center for Puppetry Arts, The Arts Festival of Atlanta, and Eyedrum, where he served as Treasurer for five years. He has performed on several instruments in several bands and has currently settled on the theremin, performing mostly with Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel, but has recently collaborated with other local musicians. Scott is the only registered pharmacist in the group.

Sacha Dzuba
Sacha is an Actor with experience in many different projects. He is a multi-instrumentalist (Piano, Keyboard, Saxophone, Guitar are primary instruments). Additionally, Mr. Dzuba has worked as a musician/scoring artist on several films, theater, and puppet theater.

Tricia Chenard
Artist, burlesque drag king, musician, actor… Trish is a renaissance man. As Dickie Van Dyke, this performer has twice been named SoVo’s Best Drag King in Atlanta. Dickie founded Uncle Daddy & The Kissin’ Cousins, a neo-hillbilly jug band based in Atlanta, Ga. Trish creates lowbrow art ranging from paintings to found-object sculpture, often incorporating science fiction, horror, and religious symbolism.
